The Poco Loco story: 2004 - present day

2004 and 2005 saw us doing many performances and workshops, as in previous years. Band members came and went, with the faithful (read 'certifiable'!) core members ever-present. Poco Loco continued to progress musically, and - more importantly - to develop our performance skills.

2006 was our most successful year to date in terms of number of bookings undertaken, thanks in no small part to the pro-active methods undertaken by Mandy Andrew, the band's bookings manager and contact person. Several busking gigs towards the latter end of this time period showed an enormous step forward from our first faltering steps, with us at a real crowd-gathering level - whipping the audience into a frenzy, and impressing them well enough for them to dig deep into their pockets at the sight of our friendly bucket, unlike so many times in the past when its appearance had prompted them to turn tail and flee!

2007 saw several new members coming to the band, and another healthy series of gigs throughout the summer season. On several occasions the number of available playing members was small - the band members have other lives apart from being sambistas! - but the performances in those instances were still punchy and tight, very sharp indeed. 

And, 2008?
We are continuing to develop the band's repertoire and look forward to bringing the joy of the bateria to an event near you!
