Taking part in our annual endurance test, the three-mile Lions Procession on Blackpool Promenade, August 2006

 

 

On 22nd May 2007 it was the Blackpool 'Puppet Up! festival. Here we see Poco Loco before the procession . . .

A happy band!

 

 

Another part of the Puppet Up festival (following the morning's procession) was street performance in and around Blackpool town centre. Another local samba band (from Palatine School in Blackpool) had also taken part in the procession, and in the afternoon we had arranged to combine both bands to do a static performance. The directors of the two bands took turns to lead all the musicians - the number of players and sheer volume of the music made for an impressive show!

Playing to entertain the runners taking part in the 2008 10-kilometre fun run along Blackpool's promenade - we were at the half-way mark.

. . . and there's nothing better than a happy tamborim section!

 

 

Here the band are playing in St. Anne's to help celebrate the Fylde being granted Fair Trade status.

that's Bill Beaumont MBE on the left, and Michael Jack MP on the right.

 

 

After playing at the opening of Blackpool's new Hounds Hill Shopping Centre in September 2008, the band visited our new friends at Sundaes Ice Cream Parlour (Cedar Square, Blackpool) where we had ice creams of indescribable magnificence (and what a range of flavours!)
We'll be back there again soon . . .

 

 

February 2009, and we are visited by a group of children from Belarus who are on a trip to Blackpool organised by the Blackpool link of Chernobyl Children's Lifeline.

Despite the language barrier, we soon got the children playing in time with us - and by the end of the evening, they managed to learn an entire rhythm, breaks and all!

 

 

In March 2009 we visited Myerscough College.

 

We led a lunchtime workshop session outside in the cold, but were pleased at the warm reception we received from both students and staff alike!
